The Binding of Isaac

The Binding of Isaac

Well, this is a game that makes me have mixed feelings. Honestly, after playing for about a day, this is probably one of my favorite games. Something so simple, yet so amazing. When I say simple I mean it doesn't have amazing landscapes, like Red Dead Redemption, or an open world, like Just Cause 2 or Infamous. It's just well made. It makes me laugh, and it makes me cry. Here some footage of me actually playing the game. I edited it and added in music and some text.

I love the style of graphics they use, and the format of the game is cool too. Now for the story. Your mom watches Christian broadcasting on the television all day long. You are a kid who keeps to himself. One day, your mother hears a voice from above, telling her to take all of Isaac's material possessions, because he was sinning. After Isaac has nothing to his name, the voice tells his mother that it isn't enough to just take away possessions. Mom proceeds by locking him in his room. Isaac has nothing to his name, and he is isolated from the world. How pleasant. The voice from the sky returns, and tells Mom that to prove her full devotion to him, she has to sacrifice her own son. Let's just say that the next thing Mom does  is get a butcher's knife from the kitchen. Isaac is peeking through a crack in  his door, and sees Mom coming. Frantically, you jump around the room looking for a way out. Then, you see it. Half covered by carpet, a trap door to the basement is like a neon sign at 1 in the morning. You frantically jump into the basement, not knowing the terror that lies inside of it. Monsters, bosses, secret rooms, treasure rooms, shops, bombs, power ups, money, items and special cards. At the end of the 5 levels, you get to face off against Mom, the hardest boss to beat. There are 2 ways to defeat Mom. Use a bible, or fight her legit. The bible is an insta-kill and doesn't count for a Mom kill. In the above picture, have you ever seen something more terrifying? This game is very fun, and it is the type of game where if you die, you lose everything, and have to start over. Another part of the game that I like is that every single room is different, no 2 rooms are alike.

Overall, I rate this game an 10/10.
